US Space Force to Buy New Satellites on a Rolling Basis, Using ID/IQ Contract Type

The US Space Force is planning to buy new RG-XX neighborhood watch satellites on a rolling basis under an ID/IQ contract type, according to Col. Byron McClain, program executive officer for Space Combat Power at Space Systems Command (SSC). The program aims to replace the GSSAP constellation and will be designed as a successor with refueling capabilities. SSC has issued a request for proposals under the ID/IQ, which has been given the code name Andromeda, and hopes to choose qualifying vendors by early March. The first task orders are expected to be issued shortly thereafter.
