US Approves Singapore's FMS Case for Multi-Mission Maritime Patrol Aircraft
The US government has approved a potential Foreign Military Sales case for Singapore to buy the Boeing P-8A Poseidon multi-mission maritime patrol aircraft in a deal worth potentially over $2.3 billion. The approval includes right MK 54 lightweight torpedoes and other associated equipment, according to Breaking Defense reports. Singapore had said it would acquire the P-8As as part of its airborne maritime security capabilities recapitalization, which aims to strengthen its maritime situation awareness and ability to counter sub-surface threats. The deal could replace five Fokker 50 aircraft currently operated by the Republic of Singapore Air Force.
