Defense Innovation Unit Seeks User-Friendly Orchestrator Software
The Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) is offering up to $100 million in prizes for companies to develop new user-friendly control software for formations of unmanned air, ground, and water vehicles. The project, backed by the US Navy and the Defense Autonomous Warfare Group, aims to move beyond the current labor-intensive model of drone operation and develop an Autonomous Vehicle Orchestrator that can turn plain-English instructions into detailed machine-readable commands. The initiative was announced by the DIU, as reported by Breaking Defense.
