US Navy Expands Unmanned Surface Capabilities With Carrier Strike Group Integration
The US Navy is set to deploy two medium-sized drone boats, the Sea Hunter and Seahawk, this year, with one integrating with a carrier strike group. According to Capt. Garrett Miller, the drones will no longer be experimental vessels but will be under fleet control. The Navy plans to stand up three early command USV divisions and expects to have 11 MDUSVs in its inventory by 2027, growing to over 30 by 2030. The development was announced at the Surface Navy Association conference in Washington, as reported by Breaking Defense.
