Indian Carrier Expands International Reach With New Narrowbody
IndiGo, India’s largest low-cost carrier, has taken delivery of its first Airbus A321XLR aircraft, marking a major milestone in its international expansion strategy. The A321XLR is expected to play a crucial role in opening new markets for IndiGo, particularly in the Indian Ocean rim, East and Central Asia, and Africa. The aircraft will also complement IndiGo’s future A350-900 fleet on thinner long-haul routes. According to AeroTime, IndiGo has ordered 69 A321XLRs from Airbus, bringing its total order book with the manufacturer close to 1,000 aircraft.
