Polaris To Develop Two-Stage Hypersonic Research System For Bundeswehr
The German Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support has awarded a contract to Polaris, a German aerospace startup, to develop and operate a reusable hypersonic research vehicle. The program, known as HYTEV, aims to provide the Bundeswehr with a dedicated testbed for defense-related research and experimentation. The vehicle is designed for horizontal takeoff and could also be adapted for small satellite launches. Polaris expects to have the system flight-ready by the end of 2027. The contract was awarded as part of the Bundeswehr’s efforts to advance its hypersonic capabilities, as reported by AeroTime.
