GE Aerospace Advances Hybrid Electric Engine Technology For Next Generation Aircraft
GE Aerospace has completed a ground test of a fully integrated megawatt-class hybrid-electric powertrain, a key milestone in NASA’s Electrified Powertrain Flight Demonstration program. The test, conducted at GE Aerospace’s Peebles Test Operation in Ohio, validated the full integrated system, including GE Aerospace-developed components and those from partners such as Dowty, Avio Aero, and BAE Systems. The successful test paves the way for future flight testing of the hybrid powerplant, which is being developed for use in commercial aircraft. According to AeroTime, GE Aerospace is making significant strides in hybrid-electric engine technology, which could have a major impact on the future of aviation.
