China Expands Autonomous Aviation Capabilities with Tianma-1000 UAV

China has completed the maiden flight of the Tianma-1000, a domestically developed mid-altitude UAV designed for long-distance cargo transport. Developed by Xi’an Aisheng Technology Group, a subsidiary of China North Industries Group Corporation, the UAV features advanced artificial intelligence systems and an optical guidance landing system. According to AeroTime, the initial test flight took place in Shaanxi province on January 10, 2025, marking an important milestone in China’s push to expand autonomous aviation platforms for both civilian and dual-use operations.
