Army Modernization Initiative Seeks Speed in Command and Control

The US Army tested the first prototype for its Next Gen C2 data layer as part of its modernization initiative. The test involved dispersed command post operations to evaluate transport resiliency and effectiveness supporting the data layer. Lockheed Martin was awarded a $26 million contract to provide an integrated data layer for 25th ID, which aims to provide commanders with shared data between networks and platforms. The Army views this effort as complementary to another NGC2 prototype development by Anduril.
