Spanish Carrier Unveils Plans for Widebody Fleet Expansion Amid Strong Demand
Air Europa and Airbus have finalized a Memorandum of Understanding for 40 A350-900s at Fitur in Madrid. The agreement is expected to accelerate the replacement of older widebodies and strengthen Air Europa’s position on transatlantic routes. According to AeroTime, Air Europa President Juan José Hidalgo said the A350-900 is a ‘game-changer’ for key destinations in Latin America. Airbus EVP Sales Benoît de Saint-Exupéry praised the order as a strong endorsement of the A350 as the benchmark widebody platform. The final contract award is expected to be announced soon, with delivery of the aircraft starting in the near future.
