Regulatory Relief For Airline After Operational Improvements
The US Department of Transportation has waived the final $11 million installment of a fine imposed on Southwest Airlines following a significant operational disruption during the 2022 Christmas holiday period. The airline has since improved its on-time performance and invested $112.4 million in upgrading its Network Operations Control systems. As a result, the DoT has decided to waive the remaining penalty, citing the airline’s efforts to enhance its operational resiliency. This decision was reported by AeroTime.
