No Impact on Saab Fighter Procurement Amid Ongoing Conflict

Sweden’s defense minister Pål Jonson stated that a Ukrainian peace deal will not impact delivery times for Saab Gripen-E fighters. However, Stockholm continues to explore sending older C and D models to Ukraine as part of its efforts to shore up air capabilities. The country aims to procure between 100 to 150 Gripen-E models, with deliveries expected in three years after contract signing. According to Breaking Defense, Jonson emphasized the importance of industrial capacity and noted that sharing cost and development will be key to maintaining Sweden’s defense industrial base.
