Revamped Facility To Produce Next Generation Surface Ships
Defense tech firm Saronic is investing $300 million to revamp a shipyard in Louisiana for the construction of autonomous surface vessels. The project, which broke ground in November 2025, will add over 300,000 square feet of production capacity and is expected to create hundreds of skilled jobs in the region. Saronic anticipates the expansion will enable the delivery of autonomous ships at unprecedented speed and scale. The company is currently building two Marauder vessels in Louisiana, with the first expected to launch by the end of the year. This development was first reported by Breaking Defense.
