Defense Department Streamlines Acquisition Process with New Director for Major Weapons Programs
The Pentagon has announced plans to create new Director for Major Weapons Program (DPRM) posts to oversee high-profile efforts like Golden Dome, submarines, and next-gen bomber systems. Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment Michael Duffey said the new structure aims to streamline the acquisition process and accelerate weapon development. The DPRMs will report directly to Deputy Defense Secretary Steven Feinberg and work with program managers and other stakeholders to drive innovation and efficiency. This is part of a comprehensive acquisition overhaul announced by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, which includes a focus on shoring up the munitions base and exploring new ways to scale weapon lines.
