US Start-Up Enters Indian Aviation Market with New Subsidiary
Natilus, a US aerospace manufacturer, has partnered with Indian carrier SpiceJet to develop and launch blended-wing-body aircraft in India. The partnership includes the establishment of Natilus India, a new subsidiary, which will be headquartered in Mumbai. SpiceJet will assist Natilus in gaining certification in India, and the carrier plans to order 100 Horizon aircraft once certification is achieved. The Horizon aircraft is expected to provide 40% more interior space, reduce fuel costs by 30%, and carbon emissions by 50%, and operational costs by 50%. Natilus is currently pursuing Part 25 certification for Horizon through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and is working with the Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for certification in India.
