European Missile Manufacturer Lands Deal to Boost Germany's Long-Range Strike Capabilities
MBDA, a European missile manufacturer, has secured a contract with Germany’s Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support to prepare the serial production of the Taurus Neo air-launched cruise missile. The agreement is part of Germany’s efforts to rebuild and expand its long-range strike capabilities, with the Taurus Neo expected to replace the existing Taurus KEPD 350 inventory. MBDA has already begun work on new technologies for the Taurus Neo under a maintenance and modernization contract awarded in December 2024. The company has described the Taurus Neo as a stand-off precision-guided missile designed for long-range strikes, with a range of over 500 kilometers. The contract is seen as a significant development for Germany’s military modernization efforts and may have implications for the broader European defense industry.
