Germany Expands Defense Cooperation with Israel Amidst Global Security Concerns
Germany has approved an expansion of its air defense system contract with Israel, valued at approximately $3.1 billion, to become the country’s largest export deal in history. The agreement complements the initial purchase agreement signed by Israel and Germany two years ago, valued at roughly $3.5 billion. The combined value of the initial and expanded contracts is now $6.5 billion. Israel’s Minister of Defense praised the Bundestag’s approval, citing the deal as an expression of Germany’s confidence in Israel’s defense capabilities. The deal is expected to be signed today and will reinforce Israel’s position as a global security leader.
