Finnair Enters Australian Market with New Route Connecting Europe and Australia

Finnair has announced plans to launch flights to Melbourne in autumn 2026, marking its first entry into the Australian market. The route connects Helsinki to Melbourne via Bangkok using an Airbus A350 aircraft. Finnair expects the new service to appeal to travelers from Europe and Australia. According to AeroTime, the airline’s Chief Revenue Officer Christine Rovelli stated that the route offers a unique bridge between the northern and southern hemispheres. The new flights will be open for booking starting December 18, 2025, pending approval from the Australian government.
