Boeing Completes $4.7B Acquisition of Spirit AeroSystems

Aerospace Giant Reabsorbs Critical Supplier of Airplane Structures

Boeing has completed its $4.7 billion acquisition of Spirit AeroSystems, a critical supplier of airplane structures for commercial jets and defense aircraft. The acquisition, approved by the Federal Trade Commission, allows Boeing to reabsorb Spirit’s Boeing-related operations, including fuselage construction for the Boeing 737 and other commercial jets. Spirit Defense will function as a non-integrated subsidiary under Boeing’s existing defense unit, maintaining independent governance and operations. The move is expected to add approximately 15,000 employees across five sites, according to Breaking Defense.
