Army Seeks S/VTOL Unmanned Options for Large Drone Replacement
The US Army has launched a challenge to find a replacement for its Gray Eagle large drone, with industry invited to submit proposals for short/vertical takeoff and landing (S/VTOL) unmanned options. The RFI seeks systems that meet specific weight and performance requirements, as well as advanced sensors and autonomous capabilities. Breaking Defense reports that the Army plans to halt future buys of the General Atomics-made Grey Eagle in part due to concerns over outdated sensors. The service aims to find a ’long-endurance, multi-mission payload system’ that can be deployed in large-scale combat operations.
