AJet Expands Fleet with 10 New Boeing 737-8s Leased from DAE
Turkish Airlines’ subsidiary AJet has taken a significant step in its fleet modernization strategy, signing a long-term lease agreement with Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) for 10 new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. Announced on December 3, 2025, the agreement will see the fuel-efficient jets delivered between 2026 and 2027, supporting the carrier’s rapid expansion plans.
AJet, which launched in 2024 following the rebranding of AnadoluJet, has established ambitious growth objectives. Over the next decade, the airline plans to expand its total fleet to 200 aircraft and establish a comprehensive route network spanning 44 countries, including 42 domestic and 80 international destinations.
The new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft represent a strategic investment in modern, fuel-efficient technology. According to Firoz Tarapore, CEO of DAE, the selection reflects the carrier’s commitment to operational efficiency and sustainability. “We are delighted to be chosen by long-time customer Turkish Airlines to provide them a solution to AJet’s growing fleet requirements with these new technology, fuel efficient aircraft,” Tarapore stated.
The agreement arrives at a favorable moment for aviation expansion in Turkey. The country’s aviation market has demonstrated robust growth, with flight movements increasing 5.7% during the first half of 2025, according to data from Turkey’s Ministry of Transport. This growth trajectory positions AJet favorably for its expansion initiatives.
Currently, AJet operates a diverse fleet of 83 aircraft, comprising 42 Boeing 737-800s, 12 737-8s, 12 Airbus A321neos, three A320neos, 10 A321s, and six A320s. Data from ch-aviation indicates that 56 aircraft have been wet leased to the carrier. The airline has also diversified its leasing partnerships, including a July 2025 agreement with SMBC Aviation Capital for five Airbus A320neo aircraft and an existing contract with CDB Aviation for 12 737-8s, of which six are currently in operation.
The DAE partnership represents confidence in AJet’s operational capabilities and market positioning. As Turkish aviation continues to expand, this fleet addition positions AJet to capitalize on growing demand across both domestic and international markets.
