US and German Defense Giants Partner on Integrated Air and Missile Defense Systems
Lockheed Martin and Diehl Defence have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to cooperate on maritime air defense capabilities for surface vessels. The partnership aims to fuse Diehl’s guided missile and ground-based air defense systems with Lockheed’s IAMD capabilities. The firms will explore how to integrate their systems, with Diehl Defence looking at two separate projects. The partnership is seen as a ‘win-win situation’ for both companies, with Lockheed Martin expecting to benefit from Diehl Defence’s expertise in guided missiles and air defense applications. The collaboration was announced at the Berlin Security Conference and was signed by Helmut Rauch, CEO of Diehl Defence, and Chandra Marshall, Vice President at Lockheed Martin. This strategic collaboration continues to showcase the scalability and increased capacity of their programs, which bring next-generation IAMD capability and 21st century security worldwide.
