Korean Air has signed an agreement with Incheon International Airport Corporation to build a next-generation aircraft hangar at Incheon International Airport, with a total investment of KRW 176 billion (approximately US$119 billion). The hangar will be the largest in Asia and will handle two widebody and one narrowbody aircraft simultaneously. Construction will start in 2027, with operations targeted for late 2029. The project is part of Korean Air’s efforts to enhance its maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) capabilities and position Incheon International Airport as a premier MRO hub in Asia. The signing was attended by over 90 representatives from government, local authorities, and the National Assembly, underscoring the project’s significance to South Korea’s aviation sector. Korean Air plans to work closely with Incheon International Airport Corporation to ensure the seamless and timely progress of the project. The airline’s commitment to safety and innovation is reflected in its ‘Safety First’ principle, which will guide the development of the new hangar and other infrastructure projects.
