Berlin Takes a Robust Stance on Space Security and Defense
Germany has released its first-ever national security space strategy, outlining plans to enhance its space capabilities and reduce dependence on non-European actors. The strategy, developed by the German Foreign and Defense Ministries, includes 10 interagency priorities and 15 subtasks, with a focus on military space operations, cyber operations, and electromagnetic spectrum operations. The initiative is seen as a significant step towards Berlin’s goal of becoming a responsible actor in space, as stated by German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul and Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.
