French Air Force Modernizes Fighter with Digital Upgrades and AI Integration
France’s Air and Space Force is upgrading the Mirage 2000D fighter with a mid-life modernization program, dubbed RMV, which includes new weapons, sensors, and an open-architecture system for hosting digital applications. The aircraft is being used as a testbed for embedded artificial intelligence and rapid mission-software development, with the goal of enhancing its versatility and combat capabilities. The program is part of a broader effort to modernize the French Air and Space Force’s fleet, with the Mirage 2000D RMV expected to play a key role in future upgrades, including the Rafale F5 and Franco-German-Spanish Future Combat Air System (FCAS).
