French Navy Validates ASMPA-R Air-Launched Nuclear Missile Under Realistic Conditions

France has completed a second test firing of its upgraded ASMPA-R air-launched nuclear missile, validating the system under realistic conditions. The French Navy performed the latest shot with a Rafale M aircraft as part of Operation Diomede. According to the DGA, the exercise confirmed the level of expertise maintained by naval crews responsible for the nuclear strike role. The ASMPA-R upgrade program is one of France’s major modernization priorities, improving range and survivability performance. This follows the first ASMPA-R test in May 2024, carried out by a Rafale B from the French Strategic Air Forces during Operation Durandal.
