Federal Aviation Administration Issues Emergency Airworthiness Directive for MD-10 and DC-10
The Federal Aviation Administration has issued an Emergency Airworthiness Directive for all MD-10 and DC-10 aircraft due to similarities with the UPS MD-11 model that crashed in Louisville. The directive requires inspections and repairs if necessary, and affects 10 additional US-registered planes. The FAA is investigating the cause of the detachment of the left-hand engine and pylon during the UPS crash. The National Transportation Safety Board is also conducting an ongoing investigation. The directive was first reported by AeroTime.
