Estonia Expands Air Defense Capabilities Amid Ukraine-Russia Conflict
Estonia is set to purchase six more HIMARS rocket launchers from the US, despite delivery delays, according to Minister of Defence Hanno Pevkur. The move is part of a four-year defense investment plan worth €2.8 billion ($3.2 billion), which prioritizes air defense and deep strike capabilities. Lockheed Martin is producing the launchers, but Pentagon approval is required. Estonia may receive its second tranche of HIMARS in 2028-2029. This development comes as Estonia seeks to shore up its air defense capabilities and address concerns about lead times and production slots.
