UK Aerospace Firm Introduces Long-Endurance, Hybrid Wing-Body UAV for Marine and Climate Research

Cranfield Aerospace Solutions unveiled the ST-5 Stingray drone at the Dubai Airshow 2025, marking its first public appearance. The aircraft is designed for marine and climate-related research, with a focus on long-duration missions in demanding environmental conditions. According to CAeS, development began in June 2025 and has progressed quickly through concept design, parts procurement, bench testing, and structural assembly. The company is exploring collaboration opportunities with the National Oceanography Centre under the Europe’s Aria Forecasting Tipping Point program.
