Firefly Aerospace Achieves Historic First with 14-Day Lunar Surface Operations
Firefly Aerospace announced that it completed 100% of its NASA Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) mission objectives on the lunar surface during Blue Ghost Mission 1. The lander operated for over 14 days, collecting over 119 GB of data, including 51 GB of science and technology data. The mission demonstrated GPS-like signals on the Moon’s surface for the first time and deployed various payloads, including LuGRE, NGLR, LEXI, LMS, RadPC, RAC, SCALPSS, LISTER, Lunar PlanetVac, and EDS. Firefly Aerospace is ramping up for annual missions to the Moon with Blue Ghost Mission 2. The company is an end-to-end responsive space company with launch, lunar, and on-orbit services.
