Firefly Aerospace to Create 50 New Jobs, Boost STEM Outreach in Central Texas
Firefly Aerospace has been awarded an $8.2 million grant from the Texas Space Commission to expand its spacecraft manufacturing capabilities in Central Texas. The funding will support infrastructure improvements, workforce training, and STEM outreach programs. Firefly plans to create 50 new jobs and expand its facility, with the expansion expected to be completed by Q4 2025. The company will work closely with the University of Texas System schools to provide students with hands-on experience in spacecraft development. The grant was approved during a public meeting of the TSC board of directors, and Firefly will use the funding to advance its spacecraft manufacturing capabilities and support its growing production of Blue Ghost lunar landers and Elytra orbital vehicles.
