Startup Creates Space-Based Missile Detection System
An Indian startup, SatLeo Labs, is developing a space-based thermal observation system designed to detect missile launches in hotspots and conflict zones. The system uses satellite-based thermal sensing to rapidly identify heat signatures associated with surface-launched missiles and determine the operational status of strategic infrastructure. According to Shravan Bhati, co-founder and CEO of SatLeo Labs, the technology is capable of detecting extremely high-temperature sources and can support both military and civilian users. The company plans to deploy a constellation of 15 satellites to support thermal sensing applications, as reported by Janes.
