Italian Shipbuilder Secures Early Work On Key Naval Program
Fincantieri’s US division has secured a $30 million contract for the US Navy’s Landing Ship Medium program, covering early engineering work and the purchase of long-lead materials for the first four vessels. The program aims to support Marine Corps operations in contested coastal areas, with the Navy planning to procure up to 35 ships. The contract allows work to begin immediately, with construction of the first hull potentially starting as early as late 2026. This development was first reported by The Maritime Executive.
