Hong Kong Team Develops AI-Powered Rover With Humanoid Arms
China is set to send a novel lunar rover to the moon as part of the Chang’e-8 mission in 2029. The AI-powered robot, developed by a team led by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, features a humanoid upper body and four wheels, and is designed to transport, deploy, and install instruments and sensors on the lunar south pole. The robot will also collect samples of the moon’s surface. This innovative design is a result of collaboration with 30 universities and space organizations in Hong Kong, mainland China, and overseas, as reported by the South China Morning Post.
