Pilatus PC-24 Adapts to Harsh Arctic Conditions for Search and Rescue Missions
The North Slope Borough Department of Search and Rescue has taken delivery of a Pilatus PC-24 Super Versatile Jet, which will be used for medevac missions, search and rescue, and other emergencies in Utqiagvik, Alaska. The aircraft is the fourth PC-24 to be delivered in a medevac configuration and features a tandem stretcher and five passenger seats. April D. Brooks, Director of the North Slope Borough Search and Rescue Department, praised the aircraft’s versatility and ease of use. The team will operate the PC-24 in conjunction with two helicopters and a fixed-wing turboprop. The aircraft’s capabilities were tested in challenging Arctic conditions, including snow and -22° Fahrenheit temperatures.
