Pilatus PC-21 to Replace Casa C-101 Jet Trainers in Spanish Air Force
The Spanish Air Force has selected Pilatus’s PC-21 as its new next-generation trainer, replacing the Casa C-101 jet trainers used since 1980. The contract, worth over 200 million euros, includes simulators, spare parts, and logistics support. Pilatus has committed to delivering 24 PC-21s, with pilot training starting in 2021. The company’s Chairman, Oscar J. Schwenk, expressed enthusiasm for the contract, citing the PC-21’s advanced training system and cost-effectiveness. The PC-21 has already been sold to nine air forces, including Singapore, Switzerland, and the United Arab Emirates.
