Zaha Hadid Architects to Design New Vilnius Airport Terminal for 2028
Zaha Hadid Architects has won the contract to design a new arrivals terminal at Vilnius Airport, marking a significant milestone for Lithuanian aviation infrastructure. The 12,500-square-meter facility, set to open by the end of 2028, will serve millions of passengers annually with expanded retail, hospitality areas, and enhanced operational facilities. The London-based architectural firm secured the project through a competitive public tender managed by Lithuanian Airports, the state company overseeing the country’s three international airports. Known for iconic aviation projects in Beijing, Mumbai, and Sydney, ZHA will bring its signature futuristic design aesthetic to the Baltic region. The terminal project addresses Lithuania’s growing passenger capacity needs as Vilnius positions itself as an emerging regional aviation hub. Founded by the late Dame Zaha Hadid, the first female Pritzker Prize laureate, the studio continues to redefine modern airport design with dramatic spatial concepts and flowing architectural forms.
