Vietjet Thailand Receives First Boeing 737-8 in $32B Expansion
Vietjet Thailand has received its first Boeing 737-8 aircraft at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport, marking a pivotal moment in the low-cost carrier’s ambitious $32 billion fleet expansion across the Asia-Pacific region. The delivery, which took place on November 22, 2025, is the first of 50 Boeing 737-8 aircraft planned for the Thai subsidiary’s fleet. Originally ordered by parent company Vietjet in 2018, these aircraft are being strategically allocated to align fleet operations by market and enhance operational efficiency. The new Boeing 737-8 features advanced engineering and full compatibility with Sustainable Aviation Fuel, enabling CO2 emission reductions of 15-20% as part of Vietjet’s ‘Fly Green’ initiative. To support the expansion, Vietjet Thailand plans to launch new direct routes to Tokyo Narita, Osaka, Cam Ranh, and other destinations. All 50 aircraft deliveries are scheduled for completion by 2031, positioning the carrier for significant growth in the competitive Southeast Asian aviation market.
