President Trump has ordered the federal government to immediately cease using technology developed by Anthropic, an artificial intelligence firm, amid a dispute over internal guardrails on its model. The Pentagon had requested that Anthropic remove these guardrails, which are intended to prevent the use of AI for lethal autonomous operations or mass domestic surveillance. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei argued that the company could not in good conscience accede to this request, citing concerns about undermining democratic values and the potential risks of such technologies.
