GCC to Establish Unified Aviation Authority: Streamlining Air Travel
The six Gulf Cooperation Council nations have established a unified aviation authority to streamline regional air travel and commerce. Headquartered in the UAE, the new regulatory body will manage a unified upper airspace framework and oversee Advanced Air Mobility initiatives across Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. The move mirrors Europe’s regulatory model and is expected to accelerate commercial aviation growth by simplifying operational processes and border procedures across the region’s 23 international airports and 17 airlines.
