Airbus Warns of A320 Flight-Control Data Issues Due to Solar Radiation
Airbus has issued a precautionary alert to A320 Family operators worldwide after investigation revealed that intense solar radiation may corrupt critical flight-control data in rare circumstances. The manufacturer, working with the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), is implementing immediate software and hardware protections across a significant portion of the global fleet. An Emergency Airworthiness Directive is forthcoming. While the recent operational event triggered no loss of control or injuries, the mitigation measures are expected to cause short-term operational disruptions as airlines apply mandated fixes to their aircraft.
